We cover the sport of CrossFit from all angles. We talk with athletes, coaches and celebrities that compete and surround in the sport of CrossFit at all levels. We also bring you Breaking News, Human Interest Stories and report on the Methodology of CrossFit. We also use the methodology to make ourselves the fittest we can be.
Well, we had a heavy, heavy, heavy.
We had a heavy breakfast.
So we're going with a late lunch today.
So when that lunch bell ring, yeah,
you know what to do.
Hit play, stay strong,
let the ball carry you.
Clydesdale Cowboys, yeah,
we stay on track.
Midday Kings of the mic, yeah,
we always come back.
Lunch with the
From the gym to the screen, yeah,
we cover it all.
Midday motivation every time you press
call.
Lunch with the Clydesdale.
Cowboy bring the heat.
CrossFit, boobies, music on repeat.
Half hour hustle, yeah,
we building that brand.
Grab a plate, tune in now,
you part of the fam.
lunch time what's going on everybody it's
late late late lunch time
Can I say something before we get started?
I listened to the Sunday night CrossFit
Talk show this morning.
So it was Monday morning,
CrossFit Talk for me.
And I have to say, like,
people give the, basically, you know,
Jamie and Carolyn's theme song some heat,
some flack.
And it's growing on me, dude.
Like, every time I listen to it,
I'm like, this is kind of a jam.
Like, it's kind of...
It's starting to stick.
I only get it once a week, right?
So...
And I do wake up singing it sometimes.
Sure.
But yeah, I think they're all good.
Everybody loves the lunch show.
It's just, you know,
when you create Stairway to Heaven,
everything else is going to pale in
comparison, right?
A hundred percent.
A hundred percent.
Yeah.
You can only write Bohemian Rhapsody one
time.
Right.
it is and that is lunch with the
clouds down cowboy is a a one-time shot
we're a one-hit wonder yep we we tried
to follow it up nope we'll take it
though it was good but you know it
just didn't hit the billboard hot top one
hundred run we'll run with that one for
now i'm not mad at it can i
tell you something that annoys me by all
means please do so last night
I'm after the show,
trying to unwind after the show,
and I'm on YouTube,
and I don't want CrossFit after I do
CrossFit talk, right?
Sure, yeah.
So Amy Lee,
who is the lead singer of Evanescence,
did her top eleven vocalists of all time.
Okay.
Okay, so I'm like, I'm into that.
Let's check that out.
Because that girl can sing.
Oh,
and she would probably be in my top
eleven herself.
Yeah.
However,
she started at one and went to eleven.
Oh, no.
Who does a list from one to eleven?
You always go eleven to one.
You took the whole reason for the list
away.
Who's going to be the big one?
You just watch one and be like,
all right, cool.
Moving right along.
That's just silly.
And this seems to be a trend that's
coming where people don't understand the
countdown of the list.
Did they not get TRL Live?
Apparently not.
She was on TRL Live, I'm sure.
I'm sure she was on TRL at some
point because that was big whenever
Evanescence blew up.
So, yeah.
The top five at five,
the top ten at ten,
none of them ever counted from one up.
Dude, Casey Kasem.
Let's bring it all the way back to
radio.
Casey Kasem, they were like,
here's the number one song in the country.
Stick around for the next fifty after
this.
That's not a thing that ever happened.
Oh my gosh.
I just was like,
you don't want to be annoyed trying to
go to bed.
No.
That gives me ample reason to open my
window and yell at the clouds in the
nighttime sky.
need vicky on here with that uh that
grandpa simpson picture um what was her
number one who was her number one i'm
curious now her number one was freddie
mercury i don't even know if it truly
was number one i think she just was
like throwing out names and they made her
list these are eleven people that i truly
respect admire as vocalists and they are
in no particular order let's start at
number one
I still would have started at eleven.
Yeah, me too.
Because her eleven was Chris Cornell,
which would be way up there for me.
Yeah, that's inside the top five.
And then she called him the best rock
vocalist ever.
Well,
best rock vocalist ever is your number
eleven?
Like, you're just confusing me now.
then like at number nine she put like
the lead singer of porpoise head which is
a band i've never even heard of so
yeah so that's it's it that's extremely
which i mean all those lists are are
very subjective but like if you're making
one obviously it's subjective to you but
if you're going to make one as the
well-known lead singer of a band who was
extremely popular in the early two
thousands,
maybe you should put people on it.
Anybody else can like,
you want to throw one name out.
Okay.
Maybe, but like, let's have it all.
Let's have it towards the bottom of the
list.
Like, and preface it with, Hey,
you guys probably don't know who this is.
Yeah.
Cause I,
I sure as hell can't remember the name.
And I,
the only reason I remember porpoise head
is it seemed like the dumbest band name
in the history of music.
I don't know, dude.
We've heard some pretty.
Oh, it's Portishead.
I know who that is.
John's selling this Portishead,
and if you haven't listened,
you haven't lived.
I don't know about if you haven't
listened, haven't lived,
but I do know who Portishead is.
Lito is finally getting the theme of the
show.
You are correct, Lito.
Things that annoyed Scott and Cordy this
week.
Oh, that's fantastic.
But you know what I love about Joseph
Ramirez?
Because only Joseph would bring up Rick
D's Weekly Top Forty.
And the Weekly Top Forty.
There's another thing that's stuck in my
head.
That was the Timu version of Casey Kasem.
Yeah.
Rick D's was Rick D's.
Rick D's wanted to be Katie Casey case.
I'm really, really, really bad.
He was the two ninety nine version of
the hundred dollar Casey case.
I'm a hundred percent.
Okay.
Today's long distance dedication.
Yeah.
I mean,
those name one segment of Rick D. No,
I Rick D's were D's.
No.
The only thing I can tell you about
Rick D's is he hosted solid gold and
Which every twelve year old boy turned
into Not for the music Not at all
And he had a number one hit single
With the song Disco Duck Disco Duck Which
he did a pretty good Duck He did
a pretty good Yeah He can't even do
it anymore I haven't done it in so
long So good on him for that Yeah
So, yeah.
And lest we forget,
Shadow Stevens did a top-forty as well.
You know who was doing one for a
while,
and I don't know if he still is,
and I'm trying to say it.
I can't remember his name.
It'll come to me in a minute,
but he was doing an adult contemporary
top-forty.
Oh, man.
John Tesh.
John Tesh, yes.
John Tesh.
John Tesh.
that dude there the writer of the nba
on n or on nbc theme song theme
song yes sir yes sir john tash long
time host of entertainment tonight yep
yeah dude man these are like d-list
celebrities from our era
But you can't help not like,
you can't not know who they are.
If you're my age, your age, whatever,
like, you know, who Rick D's is,
even if it's in passing,
like you'd like the name though.
Oh yeah.
Oh yeah.
That guy.
You know who John Tesh is for whatever
reason,
whether it's entertainment tonight or you
heard him on the radio, like selling,
you know,
hawking whatever copper infused knee
sleeves or whatever else he's selling.
Dude,
there's a whole lot of stuff like that
going on.
Oh, yeah, Meg.
That's why I'm talking this.
Like, that's why my voice is like this.
So they keep you kind of subdued so
you can fall asleep gently.
We didn't want the feisty Meg today.
So we, we waited till your nap time.
So we got like the mellowed,
easy going Meg.
That's the one we want.
Not the one that can eat a sandwich
in one bite, apparently.
Oh my God.
Let's not forget Delilah.
That was not a top forty.
That was just the sappiest sap crap ever.
Ugh.
I feel like that stuff and the late
night swinging sound of the seventies or,
you know,
whatever CD fricking they were trying to
sell you.
But like all that kind of stuff like
runs together in my brain.
We have a letter from a cancer survivor.
It was like, that was every freaking show.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Not only was she a cancer survivor,
she was an orphan raised by a kindly
grandmother who took her in off the
streets, and now she's battling cancer,
but she made it through.
We just want to send a shout out
to her today.
And it really would be now, Don,
because you would fall asleep.
She, she played in like,
cause I grew up in a very,
very small town and it was very,
very like low key.
And Delilah was on every radio station in
the evening.
You couldn't help it, dude.
If you, if you're scanning,
y'all remember scan before everybody's
listening to music in their car and you
hit the talk radio station at that point
in time,
you were probably going to get her in
the afternoon.
Yeah.
We'll solve that relationship problems at
six thirty in the afternoon on a Tuesday.
Lady, all they want is traffic.
They don't give a damn about this woman's
relationship problems.
They want to know if I can get
home on I-ten or not,
because if there's an eighteen wheel
turned over.
Oh, man.
Anyway, moving right along.
I'm a child in my parents car,
all of a sudden being put to sleep
by a strange lady over the radio.
That's probably why she was on all the
radio stations to get the kids to sleep
in the back of the car.
A hundred percent.
Let me go ahead and address this.
Ken Walters.
We are, uh, we actually just got on.
Yeah.
Had meetings.
So we had to take a late lunch
today.
Yeah.
We're not doing, we're not doing, uh,
that Daniel Arnson prayed much prayed for
three hour show.
And we're just, we're just running late.
I wanted to clean up a couple things
from last night's show.
Not really clean up,
but like last night we got into the
legacy talk,
which started with you and me on the
lunch show last week.
We got into a little more last night.
And Vicky put up like a thing of
Mount Rushmore where there's three,
three like locks for Mount Rushmore of
CrossFit, right?
And we're talking about the fourth one and
how it probably was Annie.
And the potential fifth because... Yeah,
I'm not worried about the fifth right now,
but Annie is the fourth.
And then Vicky looked it up and that
she, in her CrossFit career, two firsts,
two seconds, two thirds,
a fourth and a fifth.
Yeah.
That's a hell of a resume that it's
going to be tough for anybody to beat
beyond.
She's always been a factor.
If she was at the games and healthy
on the women's side, maybe not for podium,
but for somewhere in that top five,
she's always been a factor.
And we talked about iconic moments that
you can remember today that she did during
the games and the turtle abs that turtle
shell abs.
Ninja turtle abs.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Chad Scott left a comment on the show
last night because we also talked about
how the U S athletes on the women's
side are not good.
And I don't mean not good.
They just,
we have not won a championship since
Kristen Clever in two thousand ten.
Correct.
And very few have even podiumed.
And he made the argument that Annie is
a big reason for that because she was
such an inspiration to the European women
that
that it became their sport of choice
because of Annie.
And that should even make her legacy go
further than what we've already mentioned.
And I thought it was an excellent point
and needed to be brought up.
I mean, without Annie, there is no Katrin.
Without Annie and Katrin,
all the other daughters that have been at
the games or knocking on the door of
the games are probably not there.
Right.
I mean,
Iceland is a pretty small community.
I forget which documentary film or whatnot
it was.
Her gym was the second most Uber to
place besides the airport in Reykjavik.
Yeah.
It's the airport and CrossFit Reykjavik,
which is an insane thought.
Like people go,
they either fly home or they go do
CrossFit.
One of the two.
Yeah, no Sarah.
Yeah.
That's a lot, dude.
That is a whole lot.
Joseph Ramirez says that's why they didn't
show up together this year.
I want to give them the benefit of
the doubt.
That is a long trip to come out
and wave.
Yeah.
And she's got, what, two kids now?
Yeah.
And Catherine just had hers.
Right.
That's not an easy thing, dude.
I would give...
I would give the people that didn't show
up a lot more grace knowing that they're
actual adults now.
And this is one weekend and they're
probably actually gonna come out on their
own dime, right?
Like Matt probably bought his own plane
ticket to get there and went out.
Hey, if you can make it cool,
but CrossFit went like,
and we'll put you up and we'll put
you in a hotel.
Like they don't have money for that or
they're not spending money on that.
So if you can make it awesome,
if not, no hard feelings.
Lito,
our resident European CrossFit athlete.
I would agree.
I for one admired Annie and Katja when
I first started CrossFit,
having seen them in the documentaries.
Yeah.
Yes,
we know that she's in Idaho and that's
not so far,
but she does have a fairly new baby.
And I do believe she has a home
in Iceland.
So do we know for a fact she
was in Idaho at the time of the
games?
And if you do know,
are you a stalker?
A hundred percent.
Why are you all up in our business?
You have a daughter,
a catcher in David's daughter tracker.
She's in Idaho.
She's going to Walmart like this.
And that just seems kind of creepy.
Uh, Drew says, yes, yes, there you go.
No.
Well, there you go.
Um,
If we had a producer today,
we could show the breaking news of an
announcement of a new CFO at CrossFit
today.
I thought I heard that not that long
ago.
Okay, hold on.
Pause.
Pause it.
Everybody stop.
Freeze.
Hold tight.
It's a clip of Dave's week in review.
I didn't even get a notification for it.
Let me unmute.
A chief financial officer and has
interest.
We are looking to fill that role.
But there is a new CFO position at
CrossFit that is open.
So if you want to know anybody who's
a CrossFitter.
So I'm going to have to cancel the
show now because I'm going to go apply.
Yeah,
I was just going to call Dave and
see if he just wanted me to step
in.
I mean, clearly, I'm a great choice.
If we would have had a producer today,
we would have known it was just announcing
the position and not a person.
Yeah.
But we don't have a producer today because
we had to go late lunch and our
producer only goes early lunches.
She's got a very demanding schedule.
Her contract states that she only does
early lunches.
Absolutely.
I'm just going to put that out there.
I'm going to let Dave know.
I'll call him after we get done with
this.
Hey man, I'm available.
Really and truly.
My pay demands aren't really that wild.
I mean,
two fifty a year I think sounds pretty
reasonable for a CFO.
I'll get the ship sorted.
I'll get it steered back in the right
direction.
there's really part of me that wants to
like blow the dust off my resume and
throw it out there yeah because we have
done all this speculation about how
CrossFit can spend their money better
right
without knowing a damn thing about the
books correct without having any kind of
look at it whatsoever that we all just
know because we're crossfitters and we
watch what's going on but none of us
have seen the books i got a pretty
good view from outside i think i can
tell you see what's going on over over
here you know that's like going to the
uh
you know,
heading up to your favorite restaurant and
then looking at the kitchen and be like,
I bet I could go back there and
do that.
Have it taste just the same.
Like it should be fine.
I could probably do actually do a better
job than that guy at this point.
leave it alone people yeah i um the
reason i think it'd be interesting to to
go in and do it is to actually
look and see how far off we all
were oh i bet you it's pretty far
like what the actual records are i am
willing to bet it is pretty it's pretty
freaking far off if i had if i
had to make a guess
Because it's pretty easy to sit back
behind this microphone and just throw out
all these ideas of how we can fix
everything without knowing what's left in
the bank account.
It's fun, too.
Not only is it easy,
it's super fun to do.
You can just be like, oh, I mean.
masters athletes pay for all this stuff
anyway like it's we bitch about it all
day long and i am one hundred percent
guilty of it but and then somebody's like
oh do you want to drive oh uh
no i didn't actually uh you guys are
doing a great job high fives all around
go back over here i'm school back training
school uh speaking of masters athletes and
money did you see the spin report
Oh, did I see the spin report?
Refresh my memory because I saw a couple
of different things from spin.
The Barbell Spin reported that the Masters
athletes still do not know.
Still do not know.
Yes.
Still do not know what the prize purse
is for the CrossFit Games.
Yes, I did.
Even though it was supposed to be
announced before the competition.
So I did a little pre-research today.
Here we go.
Let me see here.
Here is the rule book.
This is six dot one six cash prizes
at the games.
This paragraph right here.
It's going to be tough for you guys
to read.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top
performers.
All cash prizes will be paid in U.S.
dollars.
Prize values will be released prior to the
beginning of competition.
Scott, do me a favor.
Do you remember what the definition of
prior is?
Last I checked in my educational system,
prior meant before.
Before.
Okay, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool.
And it's before the twenty twenty six
competition, right?
Not just not like it doesn't explicitly
say before the twenty six games.
I think we are left to assume that.
Okay, we're just left to assume that.
But that is from the twenty twenty six
rule book.
So in addition,
I wanted to share this piece because I
don't understand what the holdup is.
So let me,
so this is a appendix G prize money
distributions in the rule book,
CrossFit games rule book.
And it states that of each,
open registration will fund the crossfit
game season prize purse.
Hmm.
Of that,
fifty percent of the prize purse for the
twenty twenty six season will be allocated
as follows.
And down here next to last,
it says Masters ten percent of that pot.
So if there were, say,
two hundred fifty four thousand people who
did the open,
but half of that doesn't really matter
because we're going to double it with the
twenty dollars and add a zero.
meaning there is a pot of two hundred
and fifty four thousand dollars to
distribute among the age group podiums.
That seems like a lot.
You got you got a pot.
You know how many people you got to
pay.
Let's see.
Thirty five.
Thirty nine.
How long does it take to figure out
the distribution?
I am assuming they used percentages last
year.
one would think right of this champion
gets eight point five percent this
champion gets six percent these second
place people get four percent whatever it
is right and then you just like lay
that over the pot you have and you
should have the new distribution so uh oh
look david's threatening us with a
spreadsheet i don't do spreadsheets on my
lunchtime david
Don't threaten my wife with a good time,
David.
That woman loves her spreadsheet.
And Adaptive haven't found out either.
And there's their three percent.
Right.
That they get.
Seven divisions.
There's actually sixteen master's
divisions of men and women.
OK, so eight and double that, right?
Sixteen divisions.
You got to paint out top three, right?
That's it.
Just top three.
Yep.
Okay.
So, sixteen times three is... Now,
traditionally,
there's nothing in the rulebook that says
it has to be traditionally.
The thirty-five to thirty-nine got paid
more than the other age groups.
Of course, they did.
But, again,
all those percentages exist if you want to
stay with what you're doing.
Yeah.
Let's see.
So, two-fifty-four... Nine-five...
Sixteen.
Two hundred and fifty-four thousand.
Let me actually do that actual math.
Two hundred and fifty-four, zero, zero,
zero.
Corey is currently doing back of the math.
Which they tell you never to do live
on camera.
It's great content.
People are just at the screen right now
as you are talking to yourself running
your calculator.
Fifteen thousand eight hundred and
seventy-five dollars per age group.
Like that's for all, that's for,
that's not, that's.
Right.
So that's men and women.
So, so divided by again,
so divided by six, but,
on average per person is what was
available.
If, you know, going by the numbers,
going up by numbers that you gave,
obviously that's going to shift around or
top to top to bottom, but, Ooh, okay.
Oh, look at David.
Just mathing the shit out of this.
Okay, so that's right, though.
Four point six million open registrations,
roughly.
Fifty percent of that going directly to
games.
Prize, prize, prize pot.
Twenty three.
Yeah,
the insurance agent is crunching numbers.
That's riveting.
Yeah, a hundred percent.
You guys are welcome.
All right.
I just wanted to point it out that
they don't know yet.
I think that is a travesty that they
say what they've known the money for a
long time.
And here we are on our podunk lunchtime
show.
And like I'm doing back in the napkin
math right here.
And I'm pretty sure I'm fairly.
I mean,
David's figuring out in real time as we
go.
His math is way off, but okay.
It is, but that's whatever.
Because he's not doing the ten percent for
Masters.
He's just doing... Yeah.
Excel don't lie.
Neither do my hips, David.
Yeah,
the Masters only get ten percent of that
two point three million.
Yeah.
Okay,
so they hit two hundred thirty thousand
dollars.
So my math is a little on the
high side, but still,
the fact that we can figure this out
right now,
And like the athlete, like Carolyn,
I'm sure has not gotten a check.
Yeah.
See, I've known this for a while.
Like I know that Carolyn does not know
what she has won.
Right.
Which I just,
I just didn't make it public because I
didn't have confirmation.
But now that the spin is putting it
out as a report,
like now I feel like we can talk
about it.
And I just think that is ridiculous.
Yeah, she was talking about it, what,
week before last, I believe, like,
saying that, you know, maybe this,
maybe that, blah, blah, whatever.
She knew California was going to take a
big chunk out of it and whatnot.
And they're not going to get there.
The games was the weekend before last.
And they don't get their check until after
drug testing.
Like, I understand that piece of it,
right?
But they should know what it is that
they've won.
you would, one would think like,
it shouldn't be a surprise.
Like, Oh, Hey, we sent you a check.
Congratulations.
Here's your second place check.
Good job.
You look at it and you go,
is this right?
Because I honestly have no idea because
y'all never listed what everybody was
going to get.
And before they sign up and pay the
five hundred dollars to go,
they should know what their chances of
winning are.
Because this is our main problem is that
we keep assigning logic to
to things that should be logical when we
are dealing with HQ.
Yeah.
But I don't even know who's to blame.
I don't know whose responsibility is on
the prize money.
Does that come from HQ?
Does that come from Legends?
I have no idea.
It's another one of those things that as
a podcast host,
we can just make assumptions and stuff,
but that would be irresponsible.
And that's a big gap, right?
To say if it's coming from Legends or
to say if it's actually coming from
CrossFit.
You all are expecting too much from them
when they still haven't figured out how to
make it up to us for missing sports
bras.
But see, Lito, here's the deal.
Is the missing sports bras legend's fault?
Is the missing sports bras CrossFit's
fault?
Or is it Valete's fault?
So who is the person that should be
rectifying that situation?
I believe it's Valete's.
Or some combination of all three.
Mr. Justin Brewer.
Congratulations, brother.
Eleventh place, I believe he was.
Tenth or eleventh and forty forty four.
Legends past December,
they received their cash prizes right
after the podium celebrations.
Can I tell you that in a competition
with no drug testing?
Can I tell you how badly I want
to win a giant check?
Have I ever mentioned that before?
I'm fairly certain.
This and you not reading books is probably
two things that we've talked about more
than anything else on this podcast,
but I want a giant check.
I don't care if it's for ten bucks.
I'm going to put that bitch right here.
I'll put it on top of my window.
I don't care.
I won't be able to see outside anymore.
Block the light.
Block the light.
I want a giant check.
You want people to know you are Scrooge
McDuck and you can't get out your window
because of the big check.
Somebody was saying that Grubb was at the,
at whatever comp,
he was walking around with his giant
check,
like was just sitting in the stands with
it.
Bro,
you ever seen Happy Gilmore when he's just
collecting them in the back of his car?
Like, that's what I want right there.
One big giant check.
Yes, a hundred percent.
I wish I got paid by giant check.
I'd have a collection of them just lined
up somewhere.
And I think that's about the coolest thing
I've ever seen in my entire life.
Yes, I'm from a very small town.
Yes, I have not,
I have had actually a lot of life
experience.
Yes, I still want a giant check.
People were surprised that that is not a
real window.
Who said it wasn't a real window?
Because Louisiana is known for its snow
cap mountains.
All the time.
Especially right now when it's ninety two
degrees.
It's what Louisiana is famous for.
It's yeah, it's gumbo, Mardi Gras,
snowcapped mountains in that order.
Yeah.
Yeah.
David Johnson,
that's exactly my point in all this.
We don't really know who to be mad
at.
I mean, David Johnson.
We don't.
But that's the beauty of podcasting is we
can be mad at whoever we want to
be that day and have fun with it.
Yeah.
you just throw litter out the window it's
my window i'll go get it afterwards it's
fine if it's on your property you throw
it out the window is it littering if
it's in my yard come on man oh
it just reminded me i was at my
best friend's house one time during covid
and we were drinking
And I finished a beer and I just
didn't want to get up out of my
chair.
So I just chucked the bottle into his
yard and I'm like, not my lawn.
Not my lawn, not my problem.
Oh, I'm such an asshole sometimes.
It's all right.
uh mr anderson my corey my friend who
moved to baton rouge and went to vertus
uh and said she loved it um was
i there i mean i can believe it
if i was the one that was coaching
i'm just kidding we got the best coaching
staff in the state uh that's awesome dude
um who was it tell me her name
um i did want to share this one
thing i found on the internets and uh
have you ever heard of the show cape
fear
Yeah.
Oh,
I know exactly what you're fixing to pull
up.
Patrick Wilson?
Yep.
Yep, yep, yep, yep.
I watched that a little while ago.
So Patrick Wilson is the star of a
show called Cape Fear on Apple TV.
He wanted to show like he had just
gone through a stressful situation and he
needed to let it all out.
And apparently Patrick Wilson is a
CrossFitter.
so he wanted to throw some weight around
so i'm gonna start this up this is
him doing some cleans they are the best
hollywood cleans i've ever seen and it's
not even close like elbows through
He comes all the way up.
That's the only part I would say is
kind of touchy.
Does he get to full extension before that
bar pops off the shoulders?
But it's really close.
Yeah.
I watched the actual interview and
whatnot.
He said, no, no, that's real sweat.
He said, I just...
He said they let me work for like
about ten minutes or whatnot beforehand.
He asked them to let him do this
for ten minutes to get real sweat going.
And he actually said that what he truly
wanted to do was the chief workout.
Yep.
I love the chief.
But because of the space and the multiple
takes it was going to take,
it was much easier to make it one
single element.
So he throws around some cleans and it's
real weight.
Yeah.
Got like one thirty five on the bar.
If you go, you do enough of them.
She gets real, real quick.
Yeah.
All right.
I tell you what, and he's jacked, right?
He's jacked.
He's pretty, he's pretty, he's pretty,
he's pretty lean.
If he would have,
and he said he didn't want to,
he didn't want to do any snatches.
I'm not saying he snatches,
but if he would have been doing clean
end jerks, like,
Boom.
And now all of a sudden you got
those, like, all that other rip.
Like,
I think they ought to have added another.
But, I mean,
I'm not in charge of the show,
and it's already been out.
Yeah.
But his form is pretty damn good, dude.
Like, as a coach,
very little I have to say about that
because he's actually taking an extra half
second at the bottom to reset before he
comes back up instead of just kind of
speeding through him and keeping his back
bent.
And he's not bouncing the bar.
No.
Dead stop every time.
Yeah.
Yeah.
David Johnson,
better than most of the online semi-cleans
that I saw this year.
Joseph Ramirez, form is chef's kiss.
Hey.
Good on him, dude.
That's pretty cool.
Yeah.
It makes me want to watch the show.
I'm not into the horror type stuff,
but after seeing that and hearing the
story...
Is it like the,
like the old movie with De Niro?
I think so.
I think it's based on the same kind
of premise.
Yeah.
Then that's probably more thriller than
anything else.
Cause like, yeah,
it's just on that borderline, you know?
I had one more thing to share before
we end the lunch show today.
Yep.
I guess it is.
It's just late.
So it feels like we've gone really late.
We haven't.
And we really haven't.
But I don't know if you saw this.
And our producers decided to show up right
as we were finishing up.
That's all right.
She's doing great.
don't know if you saw this it was
a story so i had to like screenshot
it oh we see we're proven right yep
got some ghds and some uh some uh
echo bike here and this is uh tia
claire toomey's story sure uh let me blow
up the verbiage here because i find it
very very interesting
If you're new here, so am I.
I'm getting back into fitness,
finding my rhythm again,
and enjoying it one day at a time,
though.
Huge thanks to Rogue Fitness for making
sure all of the bases are covered.
Excited to see where this journey leads.
Stick around and find out.
you think this do you think this is
the teaser or do you think she just
is hopping back into i don't think that
she does anything with the intent of i'm
just gonna half-assing it i'm just gonna
half-ass it i'm just gonna put it out
there maybe i'll come back no she saw
amy go out there and do what
she could have done, she has done, she,
you know,
she's done however many times at this
point.
And that's,
that probably lit a fire under her ass
to say, you know,
cause maybe she was on the fence before
and we got two kids now and,
you know,
all this stuff we were talking about last
week when,
when
Might not be too easy for her to
jump back in and just come, you know,
come back at it full force.
When you see somebody come out there and
they're doing all the things that you do
or you have done.
Right.
And they're talking about, oh, shit.
Oh, oh, oh, oh.
And all the rest of the talk was,
was what would happen if Tia was there?
What would happen if Tia was there?
What would happen if Tia was there?
And I know she heard it.
Right.
She's not stupid and she's not blind by
any stretch of imagination.
Yeah, I think Meg's got a point.
don't care if she's back or not i
don't think she's an automatic bid to win
i think life gets in the way and
age is undefeated um daniel arnson oh for
the love of all that is holy hang
it up on board uh sean agrees bored
with the tia story if if it if
it allows us to have
A race,
a real race in twenty twenty seven.
I'm all in.
Let's see what happens.
OK.
Hypothetically, she comes back.
Sure.
And she takes seventh.
OK.
We dogged the hell out of Justin Medeiros
when he took seventh and eleventh and
whatever.
Right.
This is the eight time champ coming back
and taking a seventh.
You, you think,
is it worth it to see the mighty
fall?
Yeah.
A hundred percent.
I'm looking at it from both ways.
This is a, this is a,
this is a win-win situation for everybody
involved.
One of let's,
let's take it to the extreme.
One of two things happen.
One of three things happen.
Tia comes back out.
Amy trains all year.
Tia trains all year.
Tina wipes the floor.
Tina.
Tia wipes the floor with her.
Like a lot of people been saying.
She comes back out.
We have a real good race.
And it looks like it was when it
was...
In twenty sixteen,
whatever the or seventeen,
whichever one's the first year that she
won,
where it was her and car and it
was decided by seventeen,
seventeen is decided by two points.
And we are finally get race on the
women's side that we have been trying to
get.
Trying to see who is going to be
who's going to be there.
Everybody thought to be Laura.
Laura's not coming back.
Despite everybody's, you know, Laura,
I don't think she's coming back.
I really, really don't.
Or option three.
She comes back and tries to come back.
And like you said,
she takes seventh and everybody goes,
holy shit, what just happened?
And you still get a great story out
of it because you go to go see,
well, you know, uh, Willow had, you know,
the mumps and I had to take care
of her for two weeks and I couldn't,
I couldn't train.
So I lost time there.
And then the new baby, you know,
had RSV and she was in the hospital
and I had to go take care of
her for another three, you know,
Either way, no matter how it transpires,
Tia coming back and there is story time
again on the women's side.
We already got it on the men's side.
I don't want to see my heroes fail.
I don't want to see them fail,
but it would still be interesting if they
did.
Maybe interesting.
I don't think...
this is probably a very data joe nameth
or michael jordan playing for the wizards
not what i wanted to see
Do you know what Michael Jordan said about
playing for the Wizards?
Because somebody was like, dude,
the kids on the team were asking him,
like, dude, why are you still out here?
Like,
you're icing your knees every single
chance you get.
Like, you're hobbling around and whatnot.
And he said specifically without
reservation that these people came to see
Michael Jordan.
So I'm going to put on as much
of a show as humanly possible.
They didn't see Michael Jordan.
No,
but they saw the version of him that
was still given everything he had to be
on the court.
I don't, I don't,
if she wants to come back,
that's her prerogative.
And it was Michael Jordan's prerogative.
Yep.
But as a fan,
I never was like all in the Tia
basket, like as a fan.
So to me, it's okay either way, whatever.
Um, but if I'm a Tia fan,
I don't want to see a bad Tia.
I was a rich fan.
I never had to see bad rich.
Right.
So there's a...
Vicky starred a lot of things I wanted
to address.
I enjoy watching the best of the best
compete better if it's best versus best.
I do agree with that.
But that is assuming she's back to form
like she was.
Seema took it as Tia's doing Rogue
Invitational.
It would not shock me at all if
she rolled over the road.
It's the passing of the torch.
It would hurt to see,
but needs to happen.
Circa Ric Flair to Heartbreak Kid.
Okay.
And then Peter Benoit.
Most likely she'll tease it for months,
then announce she's doing Iron Man or
something.
She's never been able to quit CrossFit.
even doing high rocks or ironman or
bobsledding or olympic lifting or whatever
she's always come back to crossfit
regularly learn and play new sports um i
don't know what that even means daniel
I think he was talking about she's lived
longer or whenever you said that.
I saw a comment earlier where he's going
to try to get her banned from the
games.
Whatever.
That'll never happen.
I don't think she will ever be bad
to you.
Forrest Frank.
Yes, indeed.
I actually do like Forrest Frank,
but sweet Jesus, that is not my name.
uh i don't think there will ever be
a bad tia i it doesn't have to
be that bad to be bad to you
her bar is set so damn high that
just a little bit of a fall that
people are going to be like that's bad
to you okay so what so and i
don't disagree that everyone's
expectations are ridiculous on her right
she is still a human being who has
been one right now who's had two children
Right?
Like she's not in for an athlete,
not for human being for a professional
athlete.
How old is she?
Yep.
She'll be next games here.
Yeah.
For an athlete, for professional athlete,
she is bordering on ancient.
Right.
Whenever, like if a, if a,
if a NFL quarterback or even worse,
a defensive back takes the field at thirty
five years old, everybody's like,
look at him.
He's a miracle.
He's walking in like, dude,
he's thirty five.
He's got at least another thirty five
years on the planet at a minimum.
But if everyone's expectations are so high
and I don't disagree, they are.
Then a lot of people are going to
have.
First of all,
I think I have shit to say no
matter what.
But if she shows up and takes second,
right?
Not even Amy.
Let's say she takes second and freaking...
Alex takes first,
and then Amy comes third,
or whatever the case may be, right?
The girls feel it's still very,
very tight.
Yes, Amy ran away with it, but, like,
everybody else in there was basically
fighting for second and third place.
So what is her level of expectation
supposed to be, right, for it being bad?
I don't know.
If she takes top ten after being off
for a year,
when she came back the first time after
having Willow,
people and took second at Rogue and first
of the games took second at Rogue and
first from the games that people think
that was a failure because she took second
at Rogue.
She just had a child.
You know what I mean?
So to put it in more perspective in
the CrossFit scene,
I am a big Jeff Adler fan.
I know not everybody is.
I like Jeff.
I met him a long time ago.
I think he's a great guy.
I hated hearing Caroline saying,
he's two hundred fitness points behind the
best.
And that's not where...
And then Jeff talking about like, he,
he thought he had it.
He's not, he just can't recover.
Like you could, or like,
I don't want to hear my heroes or
my, and I don't want to say heroes.
It's not a pedestal thing.
It's just the people I admire in the
sport who have put forth everything.
I don't want to hear how they have
fallen down.
That's a champion just a handful of years
ago, talking about how we just can't hang.
Unfortunately.
Oh, here we go.
You ready?
You ready for it?
You ready for it?
That's sports.
It is.
It is.
That's sports.
Age is undefeated.
Father time is a gazillion to none.
Ariel Lowen was the oldest CrossFit Games
athlete on the female side at thirty two
years old.
that age the age of the oldest is
getting younger and younger and younger
well it started to actually mirror actual
sports right actual professional sports
right where it's like um if you are
phenomenal at twenty three by the time you
hit twenty seven twenty eight you are on
the back side of your career and t
is going to be older than that next
year she's also saying
I think she's an anomaly physically.
I really,
really do believe she's an anomaly
physically.
Joseph makes a great, great point.
If Jeff Adler would have just taken some
Thirdsy to get the best sleep and recovery
tool in the business,
all he had to do at checkout, Jazzy,
he could have got fifteen percent off his
order, had some Thirdsy for the games,
recovered, slept, done all the things.
Go to Thirdsy.com backslash Jazzy and
don't be a Jeff Adler.
Recover.
Jenny's definitely going to clip you
saying don't be a Jeff Adler.
Oh, it's just a joke.
I love Jeff.
I just said a whole bunch about how
I'm a big fan of Jeff Adler.
A hundred percent.
A hundred percent.
I know.
I get that.
Yeah, dude.
I don't know.
To me, that reads like,
getting back to the original point that
you brought up,
that reads like she's coming back.
I agree.
Like Meg said,
she's definitely going to be at Rogue.
I one hundred percent believe that.
Rogue's what, October?
Yep.
I think so.
She'll be at Rogue.
Usually is.
She'll be at Rogue.
All right, man.
That's all the stuff I had lined up.
We talked about what we're annoyed with.
which is basically all they show is yeah
or less or less every day yeah we
might as well just change it to two
grumpy old men yeah grumpy old dudes oh
dude you like clouds uh october
twenty-third to this one twenty-sixth i'm
so glad we have a producer yeah she's
killing it making my life so much easier
uh we still have t-shirts available
Had some more ordered last night.
Still,
like we are sweeping through the smalls,
mediums, and the larges.
If you are that size,
you better make an order quick.
Get them while they're hot, people.
Get them while they are hot.
We have everything from small to four XL
because I want to take care of everybody
in the Clydesdale world.
That includes shipping in the U S if
you're outside the U S you can still
order just DME.
We'll figure out what the shipping is and
if it's doable or not,
we'll attach it to a carrier pigeon and
make sure you put your name,
size and address in the memo of the
Venmo or the cash app.
Or maybe a seagull since it's gotta go
across the ocean.
Yeah.
Yep.
Flap those wings, flap those wings.
If you look back here,
there's a couple of seagulls.
On the snow-capped mountains in Louisiana?
Absolutely, they are.
I can't tell you how bad I actually
want one of those, seriously.
So Corey Leonard does have a big old
check.
Oh, she fixed the name.
Thank you.
She did.
She did.
It was Forrest Frank.
And you have one million dollars.
One million dollars.
FYI, see,
that was a picture from Birmingham.
Magic City.
From Magic City, yeah.
But I would have a much bigger smile
on my face if I had a giant
check.
And I'd probably be...
You need to find a picture of me
snatching.
Just wear it up over my head and
I texted Dex Hopkins today because he's
got a video of me snatching and somebody
else, my friend Toya, got a picture,
a video of me videoing Dex.
A video of me snatching while Dex was
videoing me.
It's like Dexception.
So I texted Dex today and I was
like, hey man,
the odds I can get you,
you can get that video from you.
And he's like,
I'll get it to you because I want
to put it side by side up with
both angles.
I think that'd be pretty cool.
Corey, are you doing Fittest of the Coast?
Um,
here's my problem with visitor coach right
now.
I went to go sign up for the
qualifier actually last night while they
were still a, off of thirty bucks,
which is like three dollars off anyway.
Um,
and the age dollars off people with who
have math skills.
That's why I have a calculator.
Um, the problem is,
is that they want you to be,
they want you to sign up for the
age group that you will be as a
January first, twenty, twenty seven.
which is still going to be forty nine.
And my whole point of doing qualifiers
because I'm not actually going to do this
at the coast.
I'm not doing any any live competition
until semifinals.
We're doing it would be to see how
I stack up against the dudes in fifty
fifty four.
Me and David Johnson had another
conversation about that the other day.
And I don't want to sign up for
their qualifier.
They're going to make me do it in
forty five forty nine.
So he didn't ask about the qualifier.
He asked about Fittest of the Coast,
which the answer is no.
So that is taking Cajun speak and telling
you, Daniel, no,
he's not doing Fittest of the Coast.
I tell people stories like that all the
time, and I'll stop and I'll be like,
I told you all of that to tell
you this.
Meg, I'll tell you what.
I went last year,
filled in on a team.
It is a kick in the ass.
It's a lot of fun.
Very well run.
Five thousand people there.
And I'm not making that number up.
There was five thousand people there.
Everything ran on time.
Highly recommend it.
I think Meg has the Masters games and
Fittest of the Coast confused.
It's not the anime cosplay,
so you can't go as a cat.
You have to go as a human.
But you can go in the novice human
division.
Somebody asked if anybody from the furry
convention showed up and went to check out
what was going on at the games.
You know what kills me is the name
of the convention has changed.
Seventeen times.
I mean, I don't know what it's called.
Some people were like, well,
it was Comic-Con.
Some people were like, it was anime.
That was not Comic-Con in San Diego.
No, that was not that.
It was an anime convention.
An anime convention.
Anime.
And people were dressed in cosplay as
their favorite anime people.
So did Goku come by and check and
see how the masters were doing?
I wouldn't know Goku from Roku.
Yeah, well, you should.
Yeah.
Dragon Ball Z. Anyway.
It was an anime convention, not Comic-Con,
not furry, not whatever else.
Here's the thing.
The only pictures I saw of them were
people in costume,
but the costumes didn't look like any
anime I had ever seen.
So it just looked like they were a
bunch of furries just walking around.
So I was like,
of course there was a furry convention
right next to the Masters games.
Why wouldn't they be?
That's probably why they separated us this
year because they were like, oh,
this is going on at this place?
Absolutely.
We're going to put all the grumpy old
people right next to those people.
That should work out pretty well.
They did show up.
A judge friend said someone asked him to
teach them how to air squat.
in their dragon ball z outfit hell yeah
i asked what the convention was about and
the kids started talking about how they
use glow sticks and makeup dances he was
so excited talking about it kind of like
we are about crossfit so yeah two
passionate fan bases all in one location
with absolutely nothing in common very
little very little amanda filler says cory
i was at a home gym
con this weekend and one of the vendors
was talking to me and i was very
it was very easy for me to pin
him to la louisiana his accent matched
yours i don't have an accent i'm also
not black i don't know if anybody had
knew that or not but it was stunning
to one of our listeners that met scott
at the games yes which was the highlight
of my week
Imagine my surprise to find out that I
also find out that I was not in
fact black.
Vicky put in the comments, PSA,
Corey Leonard is not African-American.
Despite what you may have heard.
Takes me back to a Richard Pryor movie.
Do you ever see Hear No Evil,
See No Evil?
With Gene Wilder.
Yes, I have.
It's been quite some time.
And Gene Wilder says something to Richard
Pryor about, well, you're a black man.
And he goes, I'm black.
What?
I'm black.
And he's blind too, just so you know.
Yeah.
It's a fantastic movie.
Gene Wilder's deaf.
Richard Pryor's blind.
And they solve a case together.
Yeah.
It's so good, dude.
It is so good.
uh cue the jerk i was born a
poor black child i was born a poor
black child oh fyi you could not make
those movies today and they will get run
right out of right out of whatever studio
you tried on there's so many movies that
wouldn't that wouldn't be made today and
it's a damn shame it is because they
are absolutely hilarious because i heard
someone say that about the hangover
oof what was the high that was like
twenty ten hang out okay i think it's
a little bit older than that but like
two two they had flip phones right i
think so yeah so yeah probably twenty two
thousand six two thousand eight somewhere
around that area the iphone came out in
oh seven if i'm not mistaken so yeah
that would make sense
Look,
you've got so much free knowledge on this
show, it's not even funny.
So much has changed in the last fifteen
years about what's acceptable and what's
not.
Crazy.
It's wild.
Hangover, by the way,
one of my favorite movies of all time.
Oh, so good, dude.
So good.
The casino was pager-friendly.
He was carrying a beeper.
That is a... Gosh darn.
Galifianakis in that freaking movie was...
I haven't... He played that part so well.
We have one of the...
One of the text groups I'm in for
a couple of coaches at the gym.
We call it Wolfpack.
This is my Wolfpack.
I legit have a Pedro on my desk
right now.
That does not surprise me.
Somehow I am not surprised.
Out of all the weird shit that David
Johnson has told me, right now,
that's really not that surprising.
The post-credits with the photos made the
movie.
Here's the deal with streaming, though.
Because they so want to push you to
the next movie.
You know how they put the next movie
in as the credits are rolling?
they cut off the picture piece unless you
can hurry up and exit out of like
the next movie the next movie thing yeah
david just sent me a picture of his
david just sent me a picture of his
beeper i used to have to carry a
beeper when i was a uh he was
not kidding i worked for a floor cleaning
company and i was a supervisor
I don't know if you can find it,
Vicky,
but there's a story about those pictures
at the end of the first movie, like,
you know, all the portals and whatnot.
Basically saying they're mostly real from
the guys going out and like just taking
random pictures with random people and
cast members.
Well,
we don't have time to go through those
pictures.
I got to get back to work.
Yep.
With that, guys,
I hope you have a great day.
We should be back tomorrow at the normal
lunchtime, not Meg's nap time.
Yep.
And if Vicky could take us out,
stay jazzy, people.
You wouldn't wait to get to the editing
room to jazz me up.
I'm already jazzy.
Lunch with the Clydesdale Cowboy in the
